Istanbul Bienale 2009

Exkursion, 15.09. – 23.09.2009, (Istanbul)

The 11th International İstanbul Biennial takes its title from the song ‚Denn wovon lebt der Mensch?‘, translated into English as ‚What Keeps Mankind Alive?‘. The song closes the second act of the play The Threepenny Opera, written exactly 80 years ago by Bertolt Brecht in collaboration with Elisabeth Hauptmann and Kurt Weill.
Die Klasse besuchte vom 15.09. – 23.09.2009 die Istanbul Bienale (Führung junge Kunst in Istanbul von Aslı Çetinkaya) und unternahm eine unkonventionelle Busreise an die ehemaligen Randgebiete Istanbuls, Gezekondos. Führung von Orhan Esen. Außerdem wurden Referate zu verschiedenen Themen und teilnehmenden Biennale Künstler gehalten z.B. Geschichte Türkei, Politische Situation Türkei, Kuratorenteam und Konzept der Biennale, Ayse Erkmen und Kutlug Ataman.
